for a solo lease, 41/mile is considered excellent by the staff.
Since you train, I can see you making more.
Will you share some of your experiences also, so that we all may benefit from your hard work? -
Today was another long day. It started at o dark thirty again. The shuttle left the hotel around 0645 and we were back at the yard sometime after 0700.
The morning session consisted of a safety lecture. The instructor was very good. He took what is normally very dry information and made it as entertaining as he could.
After a short lunch the afternoon session started.
The afternoon consisted of presentations on mountain driving, hazmat, thermo king refer operation, and the driver counselors.
Dinner consisted of salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and gravy.
The evening was spent out on the track doing backing maneuvers.
Tommorow, if all goes well, I should be assigned my trainer and out on the road after completing the final orientation classes.KCJ Thanks this. -
Sitting here at Tyson Chicken in Carthage, TX. Pick-up time was 0700-1200. At 0830 we (finishing trainer and I) were told that load would be ready at around 1600. So we went to the little gas station/Truck stop to sit. Called them at 1600 to see if load was ready. They said load wouldn't be ready until 2200. Sat some more. Called them at 2100 to see if still on 'schedule'. Was told that yes, load and bills would be ready by 2200. Got here at 2215,now they say load won't be ready until around 0100 or so. My trainer just left to go back inside, I think he is ready to kill someone. Can't say I blame him. Has anyone else had this kind of experience at this ############ known as Tyson in Carthage,TX? I don't think I ever want to come back here, I'll tell you that. Supposedly 14 days left in finishing training until I hit grad fleet and pre-Alliance. Out of 13 graduates from my class at the Stevens school, I am 1 of 4 left with the company. Headscrathing. Hope all out there are doing well.

If they all graduated, what happened to them? -
The final day of orientation was relatively painless.
The morning consisted of more presentations and briefings. We also received the fuel cards and t-checks.
There were a few more presentations after lunch.
Once the presentations were completed it was finally time for the much anticipated assignment to trucks and trainers. The individual who does the trainer assignments asks you three things and only three things which are: Are you afraid to fly? Are you a smoker? How old are you?
A few people immediately left as their assigned trainer was on the yard. As for the rest of us it was hurry up and wait.
The rest of the afternoon was spent waiting on assignments which never came. At 1700 the rest of us were given passes to the hotel and told to report back in the morning.
I reported back the next morning. A few people were immediately told to grab their gear and leave. The rest of us have spent the entire time in the classroom waiting...............
At least there is internet access here. For now I will patiently wait for my assignment. -
Hang in there buddy! Your ship will set sail! -
My trainer says that is about normal sounding for that Tyson plant. They have SNAFU down to a science when weather is less than perfect. And as for waiting for your trainer, that is about as boring as it gets. Hopefully they will get you one fairly soon. They flew me and another three guys out to meet ours after three days waiting in Dallas. We just went through a moderate dust storm in Arizona and are parked while our nerves settle. Then off into Cali and north to Wahington with 20,000 lbs of tomatos. I am signed up for orientation 2 on Feb 3. Wish this guy let me drive more but I think I'll do fine. Keep the shinyside up!

What is orientation 2?
