If they are doing so good why does Swift have to keep constantly hiring ? They aren't adding trucks but keep hiring drivers .

New drivers cant possibly stay with "any" company, were talking OTR driving. When a NEW driver starts his career with "any" company they are starting a new life style, and you and I both know what that means..?? Enough said! Its not a job change, its a life change!

I am a new driver as well and I just recently got out of the military. So my family knows all about the being gone all the time. I think all of the new drivers should do their research about this lifestyle change and research different companies that are out there.

I highly recommend flatbed, its where the miles are right now with swift. When i was a company driver i would average 2700-3000 mile easily, as an owner op i average 3000-3200 a week. With running flatbed with swift you have the bonus of being able to take a van load if you get into an area that doesnt have any flatbed freight in it. You'll always be moving.
When your a student the money is tight, but if you can make it thru those 6 weeks it will be well worth it. Some mentors will pay for some of your meals as well, if you get a good mentor.
Swift has been great to me. Ive taken 2 weeks off due to a family emergency and didn't have any problem with it. They called me a few times to make sure everything was ok and if i needed more time even. I also have a really good DM though to, and that makes a huge difference. He cares about his drivers. There are some pretty ###### DMs out there that don't care a thing about their drivers, and won't try and help them. He helps me out as much as he can when i ask him for it.
I have attached the swift pay scale for you all to look at. Right now though they pay a penny less then what is actually showing on there. They took a penny away last year.
With flatbed you will get Tarp pay, Load and Unload pay if you do chasis runs also.
Swift is hiring all the time for drivers because SOO many drivers are quiting or being terminated for safety or crash related reasons. There are so many trucks just sitting at terminals waiting for drivers.
It's not only Swift that is hiring all the time though either, most trucking companies are always looking for drivers, due to the huge turnaround of drivers leaving compared to the drivers coming in.Attached Files:

I am a "semi-newbie" to trucking (pun intended). I graduated from school and went OTR for 3 months, then left trucking for 8 months to attend to issues at home. I am getting back into trucking with Swift, and I have some questions I don't trust to a recruiter:
1) How long is orientation and do you get paid?
2) Does Swift have a policy against phones even with a headset?
3) How often do you get home during the 6 weeks with a trainer?
4) When I am eligible for benefits, can I purchase insurance to cover the whole family?
5) How often does Swift send their drivers on broker loads?
