So there's 3 sections (A, B and C) of the pre trip exam, and I onow that the coupling and incab is included with anyone of those 3 sections. My question is; where does section A, B and C start and end?

When i did it. A- was from front of truck to the door frame. B- was front of door frame to back of truck. C- was coupling equipment then whole trailer.
Puppage Thanks this. -
I'm pretty sure (its been a while) but as you said the in cab and coupling systems are in all sections, but the engine compartment is one, the side of the cab the frame up to the nose of the trailer is one and if I remember correctly, the trailer is the last section.

It depends on several factors, mostly locality and examiner. Each state does things a little differently, and each examiner also has their own particular ways of conducting the test. Here in southwest Wyoming, the pretrip sections are: engine compartment, firewall to the back of the tractor, trailer, coupling, and in-cab. Everyone here does at least one if not two of the exterior sections, and then of course the in-cab is required for every test. When I got my Class A in Georgia, I had to do the driver's side of the whole tractor-trailer, from the front bumper to the rear bumper; when I got my passenger endorsement in Wyoming a few years ago, however, the examiner just had me inspect the front right corner of the bus, from the windshield/front bumper to halfway down the side between the axles. If you're going through a school, which most people have to now, they'll teach you the different sections the way you'll be tested on them. Otherwise, learn it front to back, forwards and backwards. That way, you'll do fine no matter how the examiner breaks up the sections.
