I’m paid by the hour on a daily 500 mile round trip. So the slower I go the more I get paid. Bring on the 55mph limiters.

Here we are, truck drivers. Restricted from this, banned from that, basically it amounts to DISCRIMINATION because we are truck drivers. If we belonged to a minority group such as race or gender, this type of action would end up in the Supreme Court, but since the majority of the population is in favor of putting restrictions on truck drivers, nothing will ever overturn all these laws that discriminates against truck drivers.

Being a commercial driver, we are governed by a different set of rules, but we share the roads with those who are free from the regulations that we have hanging over our heads, if this is not discrimination, then pray tell me what is?? If I am banned from using a restroom at a shipper or consignee, do I have a legal recourse?? If I am banned from running the same speed as other vehicles, the same principle should apply.

Protected classes don't have a choice to be who they are. You can quit and get a different job.

Your remark reminds me of someone who is not interested in change. I am so glad that those before me did not have this attitude. How many times have I heard, "if you don't like it, quit" or "if you don't like this country, leave". The main reasons this country has become the greatest country in the world, is because people were willing to "stand up" for change, not sit on their "rears" or "turn tail and run".

I know several old hands that walked away when ELDs were implemented.

Same here! My personal opinion is that ELD has contributed to the increase in truck accidents. It is "hammer down" since ELD came into play. No more being relaxed and enjoying the ride, it is "get the job done".

Even at the present time, the Agricultural Exemption allows milk haulers to run 24/7 and never touch a ELD or a log book. Crazy!!

I wasn't saying that you can't push for what you want. I was merely calling out your use of discrimination. Most people would laugh at you for saying your being discriminated against because of your job.

I’ve often said that when I started doing this 27 years ago it was a profession I was proud to be in, and enjoyed doing it.

Now the enjoyment is gone and it’s just a way to make a living. We are the most regulated profession out here, and it’s only getting worse. Where does it end?
