Waiting on New Trucks thread.

@Siinman that's a nice looking truck. I see you're already slumming that sweet new whip at Walmart LOL.

Easy. Backing in on a poor setup with axles slid all the way up, but just enough to the left to clear the cab then contact the trailer as the tractor is unwinding. If I had to guess, that strike is about the right height for the top horizontal section of a trailer tail that is still in the open position. I back into my "home" space with the tail open all the time, as I have room for it behind the trailer.

Several years ago, I had a similar trailer strike with the truck to my left pulling out of a dock at Americold Westgate Atlanta while I was inside getting my bills. Put some scrapes on the front corner of the trailer and smashed the telltale light for my reefer, but did not put a scratch on the truck anywhere. Obviously tail swing from cutting the wheel too soon. Americold would not tell me what carrier had that door. Ever since, whenever I get in a similar setup, I snap a cell phone pic of the door of the truck next to me if I step away for anything, then delete it later when nothing happens, which is always the case since these things only happen when there's a clean getaway. My memory was never good in the first place. Your camera system should help for those moments.

 

If the truck was coupled, no way the truck isn't getting hit

 

Ha ha yeah had to get a few things for the fridge. And the truck was not present at that time. They most likely hit it the way you explained as well. Still can’t understand how someone could do it like that but this is 2022.

 

The Truck Paper is full of Dry Vans for sale. Looks like everyone’s trying to cash in ( or out) while they can. Prices still high. Based on the amount for sale, won’t be much longer for prices to start coming down some.

 

I'd probably say that too if it hadn't actually happened to me.

 

Just finished the first trip in the new truck. Put in 5K miles and did pretty decent for the first time out in it.
1st run was over 1K Miles and averaged 7.6 and had a lot of wind and rain about 29K in box.
2nd trip was around 600 miles and averaged around 8.2 with around 24K little rain.
3rd was 700 plus miles and got a #### load from hell. It was 42K and was in the mountains with lots of wind and rain. 6.7 Average
4th load was around was1000 plus and it was 40K and got average of 7.4 wind was bad at times but not to bad.
Over all trip was 7.4 so not to bad starting out. The miles does not add up I know but just rough guessing on miles but had the average on fuel right with the weights.

I am going to go ahead and add the Flow Below tractor Aerokit to the truck here in a month or so. I wasn't going to add it at first but thinking it may help out enough to pay for itself after first year. The Tripac Envidia Electric APU did just fine and only ran close to out of battery the second time I used it. Had AC full blast and fans and #### load of electrons on. I ended up doing like 20 Hours setting on Friday and it had plenty of juice left in the morning and never started truck to recharge. It was a decent sunny day and that helped out I am sure since I have the solar panel for it as well. Over all I am pretty happy with its performance. I am sure it will not do great in the middle of the hot summer but will be good enough for me 95 percent of the time. I am glad I went that route at this point anyways,

EDIT: Also wanted to point out that I did 68 in 70 about half the time and did 70 the other half. In 65 I did 63 and 65 trying different styles about the same way.

 

Both of mine are at the dealer now. Just waiting for the APU's now. Maybe they'll be ready next month.

 

What APU's are you getting installed?

 

Carriers. Whenever i need something done here they always get me in. TK takes me days to even look at something.

 

I am the same way with TK but never had any dealings with Carriers APUs. Although I am just a one man and one truck show I tend to get great service from around here. Might be because I don’t take #### and show lots of respect as well.
