Hi everyone, I have my permit and I have been in the process of studying and passing my pretrip tests in school (yard training). I’m having a very tough time memorizing everything. I have 0 experience driving trucks and 0 basic truck knowledge which doesn’t help matters. I’m trying to stay positive but I’ve been kinda down on myself because I’m struggling trying to retain all the information. There’s so much to take in I’m overloaded and overwhelmed advice?
I do have 3 opportunities already planned for local truck driving. Won’t be going otr

My advise is chill. Yes there is a lot of info to cover but the more you dwell on things the more you are going to get stressed out. Don't focus on everything you don't know just take it slow and learn the best you can. It's called school for a reason, your there to learn (you will) but you don't have to learn everything overnight. You will be fine

Repetition Repetition Repetition
I thought I would never be able to remember all the steps on the air brake procedure. But after repeating it 5 million times I did. Good luck you can do it -Another Canadian driver, tscottme, gentleroger and 6 others Thank this. -
Depends on your State but get familiar with the guts of the truck, doing it in the way the test
happens is imo best >Drivers side >Front >Passenger side > etc. I found the guy in the 2nd
link 'Crazybags' really cool and helpful you can go thru his videos. Not really a fan of the
Mega that's here but these truckers are great.

I'm probably the last guy you want advice from, but here it is and it's important.
1. Repetition is the mother of success -- do it enough times until it becomes second nature or instinctive. You are not going to learn everything in one study session, break it up into parts that are small and memorize them, do it over again and again.
2. Perfect practice makes perfect -- practice the pretrip walk around on your own and talk it out. When I was tested out, my pretrip took 28 minutes and I was parched from all the talking.
3. If you want this CDL bad enough, you have to focus like a laser on it. All distractions have to disappear from your mindset.Another Canadian driver, tscottme, homeskillet and 4 others Thank this. -
