Does the gw bridge toll apply to both directions of traffic or just the east bound going into nyc?

I’m guessing going east/north only. That’s how it used to be.

Yes, the toll is only one way heading into NYC, North/East.

Good thing they didn't name it the "Andrew Cuomo" bridge. That would have been embarrassing.

coming back south I'd sometimes go through the Bronx. No toll and and no toll plaza to fight your way through at the bridge in that direction so it's not as bad.

Never been on the GWB. Always go on 17 to the 287 as other drivers have mentioned. Don't think I'm missing out. Perhaps one day I'll cross it if I'm bored just to say I did it, but I doubt it.

    Trucker61016 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

So you can take 9W to Northvale? Going there today and I am trying to figure it out

Did you take 9W all the way to Oak Tree Rd, which would put you on the NY side, or did you turn left onto Closter Dock rd?

    Trucker61016 Thanks this.

I just did the GW bridge this Friday at 5:00pm on Memorial day weekend driving a 38ft straight demo truck with the owner leading the way issisting I follow him in his rental car. He was upset and would call me because I could not keep up with him. I politely informed him it is against the law for me to be on my phone and that he could send me the address and I will show up as soon as possible. That was a no go for him so I ended up on a lot of narrow streets and one low bridge crossing lucky the bridge was higher than marked made it with literally 2-3 inches. Oh, I failed to mention I had a few 3 point turns in a couple of intersections.
I did a similar trip for this company driving a smaller truck from Florida to Connecticut I cut over to 77 to 81 and crossed the tappan zee that went well until I got thru NY then I hit all the traffic on I95 coming out of the city I thought I had lucked out but the last 20 miles of the trip were brutal stop and go traffic lol.
I am not a fan of the east coast from DC north, traffic and tolls are a real kick in the rear not to mention the lack of road maintenance. And I will be avoiding any more truck demo jobs in the future I prefer an address on a bill of layden with my route planning
I peffer the tappan zee route
