Had you asked 15 minutes ago, there was one left.

Amy was weirded out that I was making tacos for breakfast, but that didn't stop her from going back for thirds.

They probably have to idle to keep all their life sustaining gadgets powered up and not kill their batteries. Lives riddled with one poor choice after another.

I must be an oddity because I am doing fine…even as a new guy. I have gone against a lot of the information shared on here. I decided in the beginning I would not track the numbers down to the penny like everyone said needs to be done or you will fail. I have general ideas of everything but I don’t spend my time crunching numbers. I go where I want most of the time. Always have 3 days off per week. Been purchasing parts right and left and my bank account continues to grow while paying myself more than any employer could. No direct customers and no special brokers. No overthinking. I spent my life doing that and got nowhere.

Fuel prices suck. Still doesn’t bother my personal pay, just not adding as much to business account, but still adding nonetheless.

I also enjoy high first year insurance. And an engine replacement hopefully in the next few weeks. Why haven’t I failed yet? Next week will be the same as this week. Just doing my thing, carefree as possible with the same income as last few weeks.

Same for me. I 100% agree with keeping track of your money. If you don't know what's happening, you don't know how to fix it, or even that you have trouble.

Unfortunately, I've not kept good #'s. Still doing fine. I've been in business long enough to kinda know what I'm doing. I also do realize that when freight volumes drop, those guys with good contacts have an edge over us load board cowboys.

But, I keep a good relationship with the brokers I use, and I bust my ### to deliver ASAP. Hopefully when volumes drop, I'll have these contacts to find freight.

If you're willing and able to do what others don't like, you'll have work. For that reason, and because freight volume will drop at some point, I decided to diversify a bit. I've only kept 6ft tarps, but 2 weeks ago had a guy in MA build me new 6's and 8's. I also got everything ready to haul oversize, got TWIC and HazMat background checks going, and got copies of my birth certificate to run into Canada when needed.

    Exactly how I ran.
I never got all weirded out about all the "numbers" and whatnot.......it is what it is.
I feel like I was very successful. Not only do I have the money to prove it, but I have the good memories too.
It's really not nearly as difficult as some people would make it out to be.
Always remember the wisdom of Sweet Lou:

Get up every day and do your best; honorably and with good humor.

    Good luck @JoeyJunk .You'll be fine.....or not...LOL

LOL. Thanks. I was never confident because Of the fear of royally effing things up. This truck and the repairs I have accomplished along with the knowledge has changed me.

Even the business end. It always intimidated me. Again, no confidence. What’s the worst that can happen? I fail. Sell the truck and go company again? That’s not a death sentence. But I always treated failure as such.

Thanks. I'll check with them. I'm thinking some make shake free as some people will start canceling truck orders or not take delivery.
