Now I'm thinking about it, I think it's speed in the wrong situations that moreso causes crashes, in SD, that .can be the case in the winter time.

Right, so when there’s a storm the government should have the ability to remotely govern our trucks down to 35mph to make sure all trucks are driving a safe speed for winter conditions. That way nobody will slide off the road because they were going too fast. After all, it would be for safety and the greater good of all.

Lol I'll do you one better. They'll just close 90 down across SD. You'll also avoid the blow overs in blizzard conditions.

Almost all of the megas use some kind of speed checking software in their elog. Go 5 mph over or whatever they set it up as the posted speed limit get a email from safety or DM…..

They know where you are a d what the posted limit is …..so they aren’t speeding mostly. But they will do 40 across the truck fuel islands because there’s not a posted limit…..safety first

And that will affect far more people than it will help. Which is usually how all these “for the greater good” arguments go. It doesn’t matter that you’ve put your life savings into starting a small business, we need you to close it down and send your employees home for the greater good. It doesn’t matter that you’re a 20+ year safe driver with no speeding tickets, we need you to cut your truck back for the greater good.

There was an article that said even The NTSB recommends greater flexibility in speed limiters.

They know the carnage is going to be real.

See that mega doing 65 mph through the 45 mph construction zone? He's only going that slow, because that's as fast as he can go.

As said, there's already rules and speed limits in place. We can't make things "more illegal".

99% of crashes from semi's are because they're dicking around on their phone. The other 1% are because they couldn't get their feet off the dash fast enough to hit the brakes and not crash into the other mega they'd been tailgating the last fifty miles.

They can't even keep from running over people's hoods in the truckstop at 5 mph while pulling in or out of a parking spot, so WTF is a speed limiter going to solve??

Absolutely nothing, but it's going to create a ton of problems
