I am not inclined to get into these scrums… however have you actually used or seen the “real” Landstar load board?

Compared it load for load to the same load posted on Truckstop or DAT?

As I understand it from anecdotal information, Landstar BCOs are paid every Tuesday for the previous weeks work. Then add the huge fuel, tire, and parts/service discounts they receive, excellent freight rates for those that establish good relationships with their better brokers, etc. and I suspect that is worth at least 15% right there. Then add the value of consistent freight and steady work and many other things and I bet many of the better BCOs are getting far more net TTT than most with their own authority who are factoring or giving back a percentage for fast pay. But hey, at least they're not paying 35%.

I really have no idea as I have never leased to them, but I am aware of some very successful LS BCOs.

There's many carriers out there that offer benefits and etc and charge around 10% to lease on.
Many where you have the freedom to book whatever you want.
Just a DAT load board sub gives you access to countless loads and brokers.

YouTube videos mean nothing unless it is comparing the same load posted on two different boards. All load board will have good and bad stuff posted also depending on the area. I’m not with Landstar but I compared board to board and I would never call a Landstar BCO out for getting gypped over the percentage especially if they own their own trailer (open deck) or specialize etc. I’ve seen enough to know if I were to lease onto anyone including some of the “10%” places I would more than likely choose landstar. Also as has been said many of the loads don’t even go on the board. Lower insurance etc.

Of course you can do much of the same stuff without leasing on as you said. So really it is up to the business owner to decide his/her way of life. The 25% just doesn’t scare me after really studying it.

On another note… I do always wonder why as soon as someone states they are going on their own the question is always who to lease on to, who does factoring and where can I get a dispatcher… I’ve been asked that twice in the last week. Why???

I'm leased onto a carrier and I don't depend on posted loads.
I post my truck, that's the way I usually get the most money.

The best loads are the ones from desperate brokers who are actively seeking trucks for a load that MUST be covered.

    I've never done that.

On average how many calls do you normally get from a single posting?

    Dave_in_AZ and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

I’ve posted mine on ITS once and within a short time booked a decent load from and area not known for having good freight. Got several calls in a very short period of time.
