Standard diesel APU has a small diesel engine with an alternator and automotive Air Conditioning pump on it.

Electric APUs typically just have a D.C. motor turn the Air Conditioning pump. A few batteries (4?) are added to run that motor for a while. Batteries are recharged as you drive, and may take a few hours. Trucks usually get speced with a 200amp or more alternator to top off the truck and APU batteries.

Many newer electric APUs will have a shore power battery charger in the mix also. so you can plug in if an outlet is available. Have seen some trucks with solar film panels on the roof to extend how long the pack can run.

Aint that the truth, On both accounts!!!

By time I got home with the truck I was at 15.5 hrs for the day. That should put me somewhere about 52 to 54 hrs for the week thus far. On track for an 75+ hr week... Except I'm taking Saturday off, eerrr I had better get Saturday off!!!

Interesting side note: hauled 5 loads today... With a cumulative total gallonage of just over 30,000 gallons.

Grew up just up the road a bit. Forest Hill elementary school area..... Too many towns converging there to call it a neighborhood.

Good place to grow up! Bravo was a regular stop on the drinking night or whenever you were in the mood! Way better than Taco Bell!
