Google the Canadian strike in 91 i think it was and find out what happened to them.
A lot of food went to waste. A lot of trucks went to jail.
The trucks that shut down the roads recently. Got off easy.
It was discussed on I think the Evan lockridge show. A few years back.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

This whole Industry needs a Shakeup. The current model of huge 3pls controlling so much freight needs to change. The Industry doesn’t need them, taking a Lions Share of the revenue. It’s all grown out of NAFTA free trade and imports. Most of these warehouse operations are inefficient. They don’t compare at all to the operations of a busy LTL Carrier. Yet through Logistical Planning they’re in control of the Freight. It takes a lot of the potential revenue from each Load. I know none of Us can change the system. It is though, a relatively new system. Hopefully not only Trucks will get starved out, but the Big 3pl’s and Brokerages will get put out of Business also. They may be making larger profits now. But if tonnage keeps dropping, even they will be in fierce competition. TQL, Coyote, XPO’s Brokerages and warehouses aren’t helping the Industry. Too much revenue, for too little actual work. The Educated Logistics field doesn’t deserve their share of revenue. Without the Truck and Driver nothing happens. The Industries been taken over by these so called Logistics Experts. It’s not good for any of Us. I’d like to see them underbid each other to the point some of them fail. Trucking is constantly changing, winners and Losers. These Large Brokerages have a stranglehold on freight. It’s not even good for the Consumer. Too much unnecessary added cost. Something needs to change. It just might.

Had a broker recently email me, offered me load from Houston to Salt Lake.
I replied I appreciate the offer but am not interested.
Comes back too me shooting me $6000.
I say nope, coming out of there pays nothing and I wouldn't be empty till late Friday afternoon. I can't make any reasonable counter due to that.
Not too long after that I randomly get another email how about $8000.
I didn't do it.
However the fact these brokers can so easily move $2000 on a load, dang how much money they be making?
I think a lot of these brokers making more money than truck drivers and we the ones living in a truck and putting our life at risk.LoneRanger, Beaver9, D.Tibbitt and 7 others Thank this. -

Sometimes it's the customer too though. It's not always broker greed. When something has to go, the rate goes with it.
Beaver9, D.Tibbitt, Rideandrepair and 4 others Thank this. -
If they would post a load with a rate more appealing than other posted loads to start then moving it would be a whole lot easier.LoneRanger, Beaver9, Rideandrepair and 3 others Thank this. -
