I'm under 5' 5" and I can reach the roll-up cloth handle using my 5th wheel pulller while standing on the floor of the trailer. OP could buy 2 or 3 sections of small diameter 2 or 3 foot PVC pipe plus connectors and make a custom, lightweight puller for $5.

I've noticed a lot of truck drivers want a device made only for trucks, sold only in truck stops, and used only by truck drivers or they think nothing exists for their problem.

yes, "rebar" from any home store, like lowes/home depot, bend it as a hook on top, and maybe an "L" shape at the bottom.

different lengths available, i say get at least a 5 footer.

just DO NOT forget it in the truck, when you go home...cuz someone else will like it better.

If op has an open door not at the dock, he's likely in the trailer.

I also was thinking rebar. A thin length of rebar. Bend one end into a hook.
I've seen home made 5th wheel pullers that were 5 or 6 feet long.

"On the bigger side"?,,not for long,,:Courier:,,when climbing down after a non-dock delivery, I'd grab the strap. If you are a line haul, why would you even need to close the doors? Aren't they sealed? 5th wheel puller would work, no?

one can also go to a camping/RV place, and buy a 5th wheel puller which is longer than an ordinary 18 wheeler's 5th wheel.. i got one myself, given to me by an RV'er, that was a part time dock worker at my former employer.

One of those king pin pullers works for me , but I usually pull the door down in the dock.
