End dump choices?

Ranco for steel mac for aluminium. They just tend to be more durable if heavier.

 

I’ve only pulled a Reliance barrel trailer and it seemed the end gates were always screwing up. Would be off center so they wouldn’t latch, or the end gate cylinders would be shot where you had to wait an eternity for them to go up or down. And the tarps were always getting wadded up. They held up good for the abuse they took with rip rap and train axles and other junk that got dropped in them, but the mechanics of them left a lot to be desired. I’d take @Arctic_fox advice.

 

Yup that was my experince with reliances too. Decent trailers but a ##### to work on and constantly having issues. The rancos cost a lot more but they are worth it. And the hinges on those things are monsterious. Though the downside is IF you bend them they are expensive as hell to fix. Just make sure to get a thicker 2+ ply tarp the single ply stuff get torn easily by the ranco designs.

 

You will be fine with whatever as a tarp then id keep one on there for when small item loads pop up or incase you gotta move elsewhere. Though before you buy if its one of the ones that keeps all 4 on the floor have the pivot point inspected by a qualified mechanic preferably a dealer. If they get close to a tipover event but not quite they can have some of the steel in there get bent or cracked. Rarely a problem but if the pivot is borked your looking at 20-30k to get it fixed or are playijg russian roulette every time it goes into the air. Also have that pivot inspected yearly. Company i was with always had them inspected at dot renewal.
