That's what is funny, you still need the key as this one isn't push button start.

I remember back in the early 2000s when car alarms got fancy. My dad's buddy had that remote start feature. Sure makes it nice in the Arizona summers, walking out of the golf course can start the truck and have it not feel like a oven when getting inside

My wife's pickup has remote start via the fob as does this one, but I had never once thought that you could now do it from your phone. I am curious if this can be used no matter where I am, as long as my phone and the pickup are in phone range. Or, maybe the pickup has to be within wifi range of the house?

I guess I need to read up on this and learn how it works. I know the remote functions of the fob wouldn't have worked from my basement - at least I don't think so.

That is pretty cool I never heard of an app either... my dad just put a new garage door motor on and I thought it was so cool he can control it from wherever by using his phone.. Also sends u texts overtime it opens and closes...it just needs to be hooked to internet and phone as well , but they don't have to be the same internet because he can open and close it from his office 35 miles away.... Wonder if the same can be done with your truck?

My wife's van has that feature. I love it whenever I use it. LOL. Makes the car so much cooler, and during the winter, warmer.

Speaking of alarms, and because I feel the need to bore everyone...

When we first moved down here to the sandbar, the wife was still commuting to Va for work(Mortgages at the time). One week while she was gone, we had a nor'easter come through. Sat over the sandbar for a couple days. After it passed, I went to check on my car at the time(2003 Hyundai Elantra). Opened the door to 4 inches of standing water on the floor of it. I was annoyed, but hey, I live at the beach, it'll dry out fast.

Well it dried out fast, the problem came, when my alarm went off. Which I didn't know I had, dealer didn't even know, or if they did, never told me. Anyhow...this #### alarm starts going off. No way to shut it off. It did this for about a month. Would be driving, alarm would go off. Park, alarm would go off, etc. Got to the point where I had to disconnect the battery every time I parked. Then it just went away. Then my wife totaled the car, during a snowstorm, right after I'd made my last car payment.

See, boring I told you. It amuses me though when I think about. Stupid effing alarm.

I don't know, but I'm going to find out. I really don't see the need to be able to start it far away. It might be handy to be able to shut it off though if it were stolen.

They also have them for appliances. Which I think is a trip. Cracks me up whenever my buddy's wife does it from her phone on the way home from work. They love it. It'll also send them text messages to let them know it's up to temp, etc. Think their fridge does the same. Will text updates on temp, door open, etc.

I want to say it probably works off blue tooth, wifi, etc. My Google home app works that way. Long as I have internet where I am, and at the house, I can use the app to do stuff at home when I'm not there. Don't hold me to this though. ;)
