Most tires have a tread depth indicator molded into the top cap. You can find the location of these indicators by looking at the sidewall of the tire. You should see a small arrow or pointer where they are located.
A while back, the standard way to measure a tire was the average of 3 locations, equal distance around the tire. Today, i think your required to make a virus video and get voted on.

Steer tires DOT reg 4/32 of tread depth on major groves
Any other tire DOT reg 2/32 of tread depth on major groves

if those were on a truck I was driving and the boss dude wouldn't change them, I'd stop at the next weigh station and ask them. you'll have new tires before you leave!!

or at least have an inspection stating bad tires.

    how do I know that???

    been there, done that

Sounds like a dumb idea that would result in fines.

I'd just park it and say "see ya!"

    "CHEAP BOSSES" GET DRIVERS KILLED!!

While those tires are worn. They are just now getting to the wear bars. It is time to change them, but a lot of these post are a overly dramatic.

    yup, done it.

they weren't steers, they were drives and I drove our Canadian runs, with winter coming on.

we were out of N.C and they didn't seem to understand about driving in snow.

I'm from the mtns of NY, so I knew about snow.
