Been reading all the posts about CRE and felt it was my time to tell my horror story of my short (very short ) time with them.
I started my training with CRE in Mira Loma Ca. I knew i was in trouble the first day-very unorganized. Starting with all the starting paperwork and drug test and background interview. Really started with the hotel(?)
they put us in, or should i say dumped us in. Was really a run down, busted up crack house made up to look like a motel. Most people in it going to school at CRE and most drinking or smoking pot or whatever. No wonder 45% of this class failed the drug test and were not back on the second day. 3rd day 20% failed to get the learners permit and left. Then started 10 days of bookwork-that went ok. 1st day on driving range (dirt ) was scary! Found out some should NOT even ride a bike, let alone try driving a big rig.Street driving went OK for 4 students to a truck for 8 hours a day.
Then came time for our test and we were told that the State (DMV ) had pulled the teaching creds and they were going to ship us to Salt Lake City to test. Some mix up with another company at the school we were told.
It took another 3 weeks to finally test at SLC at there training yard. Or should i say PIT. The place was very crowded,VERY SMELLY( High school gymx10).Very poorly run and all the time telling us how GREAT their Leasing program was and we would made a ton of MONEY. This was when their leasing program was optional.Got my license and went out with my trainer.23 years w/CRE and a really good guy.Learned alot from him, alittle short fused sometimes but taught me alot. Was told that CRE had changed its program about leaseing and that when CAT program was done i HAD to lease a truck. So i said AMF at the end of my training and flew home.Story is alot more indepth but you get the jist of it.NOT ONE of the 5 guys that passed the test ever went to work for CRE.

You'll be glad to know that when I went through, they still used the Crackhouse Inn, with the added "bonus" of door-to-door "lot lizards".

But they don't use the dirt lot anymore, they gave that to CRST.

Stay away from CRE. The odds aren't good that you'll do well there. I mean you MAY be fine, but I sure wouldn't take the chance, especially as a newbie.

By the way, congrats on taking that great path to trucking, BobbyW. You did it the right way, unlike myself when I started. Coulda shoulda woulda, man.

    Good job.

Hey, Sad, are you still with CRE? If so, take a drive up to North Salt Lake and pull into the Crete terminal that's just off I-215 (same exit as the Flying J). Go in, meet a lady named Janell (she runs the place), and (hopefully) walk away with a job you won't hate.

Cut that CRE chain, man. You deserve better.

Did she even try to counter your statements, or did she just seem angry at the truth?

Nope, I left them. After the stunts they pulled, I was never going back.

I just had my feelers out, and I'm thinking local is going to be my gig, I'll make more money per hour, and be home each night.

Sad, I'm back in Salt Lake City for the time being. Let's see if we can meet up soon for lunch at Sapp's or someplace. I may be going overseas in a couple of weeks. I hear Hugo down in Venezuela is cooking up a socialist revolution, and I want in on it.

Yeah, I voted for Reagan back in '84. I've been going left ever since, especially after getting into the trucking industry. Maybe it was all the scams I saw. Maybe it was all the broken laws companies were allowed to get away with. Maybe it was the fact that my companies put profits before drivers. Maybe it was the stealing my companies got away with while people I know went to jail for stealing 50-cent candy bars.

Truly it was all of the above that turned me into a bona-fide leftist.

    Yeah, let's meet.

Send me a PM if you want to.
