I had a battery powered and at was great. No darn lawn mowers in the cab while you try to sleep, at was picky on being serviced, but if you took care of it, it ran great!

These stupid fuel powered APUs are loud and always need worked on. Pieces of junk! Redone truck will have a battery powered (E)PU and solar panels. Lots of weight in batteries, but quiet. Hauling hay if I ever got up on my feet again.

You must have the twin to my POS. When you really need it, it will not work.

Class action suit due to murderous equipment that fails to do its, as advertised,
    cooling or heating.

I'm in the process of equipping a trailer of mine with a generator and an A/C unit hidden in the passenger side compartment and under the bed. I am mounting my generator on my step deck in between the frame rails just under the step. There is an open space that is perfect for a generator and enough room to fabricate a soundproof box for it to sit in. Then I am going to run the cables from the generator to the front of the trailer and install a plug recepticle for easy disconnects. It's also going to have a remote start setup. I'm still in the "parts gathering" phase now but in a few weeks I'll have it up and running.

I could always use your APU in my race car trailer if I could fix it and make it work. Haha

What do u think your cost is for that generator setup? The thing with the apu is it has wires and computer boxes running every which direction. Very hard to diagnose . If I could modify it get it to run without the computer I would be ok with it.

If I had to spend the money for a new Genset it would be a WEN brand DF1100-T which is an 11,000 watt setup with electric start. It's a tad overkill but for $838.00 it is worth it to me. I purchased one used last year that was already 3 years old and it runs flawlessly.

The remote start kit is about $215 but we'll worth the added cost. Being able to start the generator from the cab of the truck is a game changer.

For the A/C unit, which I already have several, is just the cheapest units available. It's cheaper to run a window unit and replace it every time it breaks instead of repairing the APU.

If you can do the work yourself and perform the install you can save a large chunk of money.

Keep us updated as u build it . I will follow along. For 838 bucks. That buys you 2 tk alternators. That last for 3 months and then go out... I will definitely be going generator route after this year
