We have come to an indigenous place in Ark Kansas that has fried chicken and coffee.
The OM authorized a 4 Piece Super Snack with wedges.
Very warm here. The OM is greatly disappointed in the amount of idling taking place.
What if it Snows?

I remember hearing about odd/even rationing, but I never saw a gas line. Probably because Dad quit taking one of us along to gas up the car around that time. Maybe he didn't want to worry about us if things got serious at the gas station.
I remember waiting for the school bus in the dark, and having to keep my coat on in the school building because the heat was set so low.
I think it was around that time that meat prices skyrocketed. I distinctly remember being kept home from school one day, with my younger brother and three older sisters, and making cardboard signs with "CUT MEAT PRICES!!" and a picture of a meat cleaver.
Then Mom piled us all into the ol' Ford Country Squire wagon, and we met up with a couple other station wagon loads of similarly equipped subversives, and picketed outside of the A&P for a couple hours until the cops ran us off. Then we repeated the exercise at two more large supermarkets.
So, thanks to my mom, I'm probably on some FBI list......and I didn't get a check from G----e S---s for that protest, either......... -

Checked the USGS site. A well monitored by them just up the road, but down in the valley, is at about 20ft below the ground level.austinmike, tramm01, LoSt_AgAiN and 6 others Thank this. -
A failure to properly prepare Friday night for one's Sunday drinking had only THREE possible remedies......
1) Swipe from Dad's/Uncle's back-up fridge. Not recommended due to increased chance of getting caught, on account of Dad/Uncle was in a similar bind and thus more likely to notice the loss of any beer.
2) Buy some beer for the usurious price of a buck a bottle, out the backdoor of the Rosebud Café. (At the time, retail price of a six-pack of Miller was $2.39)
3) Pile in a car, drive an hour north to the New Hampshire border, and stock up.......then return to Massachusetts, and continue drinking.LoSt_AgAiN, JolliRoger, tramm01 and 8 others Thank this. -
I'm still at Smiley's in Raphine.
After massive thundertain last night, the cooler air feels good. A "cool" 70 degrees. Plenty of sunshine.
After a breakfast of coffee, two pieces of fried chicken, and potato wedges (surprisingly tasty combo, @Dave_in_AZ ) I'm supposed to head up to Dayton to position myself for tomorrow's pick up......
But I don't feel like driving.
But I DO have to start.
But I don't want to.
But I don't CARE that you "don't want to". This is your JOB! So get off your dead ###, do your pre-trip, and GET.......ROLLING!!
Awright, awright, a guy can't get a break from your #####in', cripes....77fib77, LoSt_AgAiN, JolliRoger and 9 others Thank this. -
