Notice a lot of "techs" wear gloves while doing repairs. Reminded me of a few drivers back in the 50/60's wore "driving gloves".
My take away from both was similar.

Well I think I've got my "smooth" back. I can row these 18 gears with the jakes on and rarely do they burp without my intending to. Very rarely gouge or jam a gear, keep control of tank surge most the time, and keep the ride nice and smooth.
