Hey guys. I’m in week two of Swift Academy. My class obtained our CDL permits last week. Now, of us twelve, four (myself included) can’t get set up through the FMCSA). We log in our information on the FMCSA website to create an account and are told:
“Please check your information again.
The information you provided does not match our records. Please check that you have entered all your information correctly, update any incorrect information, and click “Verify” again.
If the CDL number has special characters (such as spaces or hyphens), try entering the number with or without those characters, as requirements vary by State.”
So, we contact the FMCSA and they tell us we need to wait ten days before they can look into it.
Now, our instructor here tells us in all his years this has only been a problem the last two weeks and that it is because of MVD. MVD blames it on FMCSA. Nobody is blaming it on Swift.
I was just curious if anybody else had encountered this and remembers how it was resolved. Apparently last week our instructor spoke to somebody at MVD and they were able to resolve it. But he doesn’t remember who or what they did. We can’t even touch the trucks until this issue gets resolved and none of us want to spend an extra week at the Academy, another week away from home, another week paying for a hotel, another week from being on the road.
As always, thanks all in advance!

Took me a minute, but do you mean the Clearinghouse website?
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Wasn’t the Az mvd system hacked back in 2011 and again in 2015?
I seem to remember we had a showcar truck and trailer here for 2 months that tags were overdue because the system was screwed and registrations couldn’t get done. -
Backing practice doesn't require you be on the roads or have a permit.

Nobody is blaming Swift? Ok, I will blame Swift.
@Sirscrapntruckalot , would you like to also blame Swift?Dave_in_AZ and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
I went through the Swift Academy in Phoenix in August of 2019. I have no memory of any clearinghouse or FMCSA registration stuff. I did have my CPL before I started though. IDK.
I am impressed you called in MVD instead of DMV. Most states it's the Department of Motor Vehicles. But, Arizona has to be weird and call it the Motor Vehicle Department instead. I wonder if there are any states with Department of Redundancy Department problem and call themselves the Department of Motor Vehicles Department?Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
No clearinghouse records, not able to drive.
This applies to everyone, not just Swift.Flat Earth Trucker and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
You're going through the Academy during the summer heat, the same as I did. I think it is really stupid they do it the way they do. Having students standing out on the asphalt and the direct sun with all that heat is stupid folly. During the summer months they should have classes starting at the crack of dawn so they can be done before the mid and late afternoon heat, which is the worst, kicks in. I'm from Yuma, so I was somewhat acclimated to the heat. But, they get a student who isn't used to that kind of heat out there and have a heat related incident with them is just opening themselves up to some serious liability. IDK. It just seemed that part of it was ludicrous to me. Anyone with any common sense should know it's not a smart way to do it. At least it seems that way to me.
Best of luck to you!Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
A contiguous string of numbers.
Nothing else works.
I hope this help you.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.
