My last 10 years on the road I avoided going east of Thunder Bay in Canada unless I was going north out of Maine so that is why I was hesitant to quote numbers east of MB. Having run out of Sask and BC all my trucking time and having trucked in or through 48 lower and 9 provinces and 2 territories I have picked up a fair bit of knowledge over the years but am quick to realize my limits.

 

On/Qc/Mi you need a lawyer in the truck with you to keep it sorted out.

 

I never ran a 3T, but put a lot of time on a 17A, 2U, 9U, and of course the famous 46A, All old dozers for those wondering what the hell we're talking about.

Sorry for the hijack, but I haven't heard someone speak of a 3T for quite awhile.

 

Yup MI I had a Fatboy coil from Ipsco Regina that was a rush to Ford (I think) and I had it on a triaxle drop. It weighed about 53k and I was just able to axle it for ND and I thought MI, 12850,33900,42150. First scale in MI I was informed that 10ft spread triaxle is only good for 39000 and I needed a $75 permit to finish the load. I had permitted MN, WI, IL,and IN and thought I was finished with permits.

 

When I ran trucks over there we were putting 58,000 on 6’ and 9’ spread 3 axles. That all went sideways about the same time TAC came in up here. Different bridge formula or some ####. That’s when a 9’ tandem didn’t do it anymore and you had to be 10’1”.

 

As if the laws of physics change when you cross an invisible line. What a racket...!!

 

Canada used to be insane. There was no such thing as a configuration you could max out everywhere. TAC fixed most of it, but we still have to lighten up 1000kg to go west even on those configurations.

Do you have to tarp skidsteers now????
