Hello everyone. I just try to make some more detailed info on replacing the variable speed water pump with the regular older style water pump Unfortunately some guys have problem with retrofit with the older style water pump. We have so many replacement with out zero problems. So what could be the problem? I believe we have the conclusion. The variable speed water pump have two electrical connectors. One is the 3 pin speed sensor the other is the 2 pin connector for water pump clutch. The pump normally working like the older cars viscous fan clutch. More heat from the radiator more speed on the water pump impeller. Speed sensor monitoring water pump speed and if temperature get too high (suspecting clutch failure) activate the clutch circuit. The clutch circuit is only for emergency not for normal operations. The clutch is feed with power from the mcm (PWM 11 circuit). It is the multiplexer for different circuit. Originally programmed for fan clutch. We never have one before when the PWM11 circuit was turned on so disable only the variable speed option and the magic was done running the old style pump. Until a week ago I replacing the variable speed pump on my personal truck (was started leaking). Only disable the variable speed option still making the check engine light come on and do the shut down for the truck. The solution is turned off the variable speed and the PWM 11 circuit. No lights truck running great with the older style pump. I hope we help some owner operators out there stay on the road and keep rolling.

Just found this thread and want to thank y’all for the help. Had my truck at 2 different mechanics for an intermittent electrical issue, (check engine light, oil pressure gauge not working right, and occasional engine clattering) anyway they couldn’t find the issue. I unhooked the plugs from my variable speed water pump and the truck runs perfect.
I figured out the truck runs fine with the wire with two pins hooked up and the one with three pins left unhooked. I have no active codes running like this so far and no check engine light. Water temp is normal. Can I keep running like this?? The water pump is back ordered everywhere. Mechanics here don’t want to try the other style like has been talked about on here. I don’t want to ruin my engine, but I do have to work too. -

looks like this modification can't be done on GHG17 DD15 engines. I was unable to find above mentioned parameters that must be changed under All Parameters manu.

I'm driving the 2018 ghg17 with that modification and we able to find everything correctly. Unfortunately you don't have the correct version or your bootleg is the cheap corrupted version -
