I have never been a big fan of zero tolerance policies. Not long ago I was reading something a safety director wrote about how he handled this issue. He was sitting in the break room sipping some coffee when he noticed a driver enter the safety offices. He called out to the driver and stopped him at the door. Kept it short and sweet. Do it again and you're gone, and I will hot foot your records. I think the message was received and hopefully learned.

I didn't read all the replies so it may have been mentioned.
The camera is always recording, not just when the light comes on.
The light comes on when it is saving an event (video clip, usually 10 seconds before and 10 seconds after the triggering event) to a separate folder, where it will be saved for however long it might be needed.
All the other footage is on a first in first out loop of small clips. The oldest is overwritten by the newest, and how long is stored depends on how much memory/storage space is allocated.
So they can go back to older footage and see exactly how often you have used your phone and what you were doing prior to that event.nredfor88, Another Canadian driver and GYPSY65 Thank this. -
I have a cheaper-end cam, it accepts up to a 32gb chip, that relates as 4hr single cam, 2 for double if on the same unit.
I am only assuming a higher-end unit would accept a higher capacity chip.
Being my device, I am free to set the unit to record-or-not upon incursion, which I do indeed have set to low impact needed to store that clip - I know I run proper, jump & brake check my front chrome and it's time for Alan Funt!Last edited: Jul 17, 2022

raccoons, a coyote, skunks, possums, road full of mice (Texas on I-40) squirrels, a few deer, a construction cone or 7, knock over a construction barrel or 5, or 9, and in the yard, i rubbed up against a guard rail. just regular stuff.
if it did any damage, i owed up to it....like the rubbing of the guard rail.
that's where a company RAT could have ran up to the TM, (he saw me) i wasn't gonna give him that chance.
always just got a, " like WTF Buddy, get back to work"
i was a senior driver......it had it's perks.
i had marker pen "kills" of animals and cones on my left fender. just tiny little x's......Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
