I use Varo and in the past I used Chime. Both use Allpoint ATMs as network ATMs, which can be found at Circle K, CVS, and 7/11. Cash deposits may be made for a fee at these locations. It's a flat fee that is location dependant and not amount dependant.

In my last years driving I was using Regions bank along with another local bank. Not because I liked Regions, but they bought out the bank that bought out my local bank back in the 80s. I was actually surprised at how many Regions Banks were all over the southeast US. I don't remember any Regions ATMs being in truck stops, but I do remember some places where a Regions ATM was a short walk away. One thing though. I am having a difficult time understanding why the OP is having to deposit money when on the road? Why not just get pay and/or settlements direct deposited? When I was active I have a large portion of my pay directly deposited and a small portion put on my fuel card. It was always there if I needed it and if my fuel card balance got large it only cost me a buck 50 to transfer to my bank.

SOFI without a doubt. You get %1.50 interest on your money and free access to over 55,000 atms nationwide.

And, it is possible I will need to make a large payment or purchase at some point, and thus the need to deposit cash I’ve taken out. Maybe this won’t happen. I hope not. But, I’m just trying to make a choice that provides the most options and best feature mix for the future. I know now from looking at what is possible that many people are ‘leaving money on the table’ so to speak.
There really is a huge difference between the services offered by various banks. I wish I had been with one that didn’t charge overdraft fees recently. While I tend to watch my accounts like a hawk, I forgot about automatic yearly Amazon Prime renewal which I had setup on my bank account. It cost me 2 overdraft fees—the only ones that I have paid in many years!
Plus, I was irresponsible with my credit when I was younger so I am having to rebuild it. This can be a very slow process. So, while I like tscottme’s advice to use credit instead of debit, I have less than $2000 worth of credit. To stay at around 30% utilization or less to help improve my credit score, my credit use is limited at this time. I may have to make multiple payments monthly to the same card. -
In the end, you have to do what you deem best for you.

None of the ATMs around my home even have a deposit function on the screen. I remember 2 years ago when my bank warned they were ending deposit feature at the ATMs. The only deposit ability at my bank, after hours, is the night deposit slot with a deposit slip. None of the ATMs I've ever used in truck stops have a deposit option. When was the last time you used an third-party ATM, such as at a convenience store or truck stop or some retail location to make a cash deposit? Was it within the last year? I think you are remembering some rare deposit you made years and years ago.
Why so cryptic about what businesses or which ATMs accept cash deposits? What business can place money you hand them into your checking account? If you are saving money in a mattress please understand it's far more likely your house or car will be broken into by a crook than your bank stops you from using an ATM or refuses to honor a check you write. -
The reasons for needing to deposit cash on the road aside, the best option for depositing cash nationwide regardless of bank is Walmart. You can deposit up to $1,000 cash there onto any bank debit card for a flat fee of $3.74.
downplay, tscottme and CargoWahgo Thank this. -
I won't question the OP. I just can't understand why!tscottme Thanks this. -
People have a variety of reasons to have cash instead of having their money in electronic accounts.
Yet, we live in a time when a lot of purchases and transfers are electronic. If you have converted your money to cash, it is possible you might need/want to put some back into the banking system to conduct an electronic transaction at some point. It is that simple. -
Maybe I am not reading your comments properly. I 100% understand using cash. I know people that do. Also, it is your business. I just can't understand why you are making regular cash deposits on the road. Unless you are also getting extra cash every time you fuel. Again none of my business!
