    Hey all,

I guess it is time I hung up the straight pipes for a little quieter ride…

Dont want to disturb the people who bought the house in the new development by the 6% grade anymore and risk a fine… Or explain that noise to Colorado DOT…

And unlike when I am sitting in front of my wife and I nod my head in response when I really didn’t hear here I do need to be able to hear her on the phone occasionally.

I also really need to be able to answer every time TQL calls to see if I am 50 miles further than I was when alibaba called to check in on me…

Anyhow, I just need a decent under cab muffler to quiet things down a bit and reduce the drone.

I am a bit worried I will see an increase in EGT with a muffler, but by how much. I spent some time in some hills this last week and I love this truck with straight pipes I never worry about spiking the EGT (providing I do things right)

any suggestions and what difference did it make in noise level?

Mine has Lincoln Chrome spools and a short muffler underneath, series 60, still way to loud. I use these, can hear cb and stereo, I hear sounds in music I never noticed before, makes for a nice day and lowers stress
My chase car commented on my jake noise going down Monteagle. Way too loud.

I’m sorry I don’t know the brand. This is on a 96 FLD 120. The muffler definitely kept it quiet and muffled the jakes noticeably.

    staceydude Thanks this.

Looks like it. I bought them from Ryder. They’re gone now. That’s a good price. They’re a little bit louder than originals. Not necessarily a good rumble sound or anything special. Just louder. Considering a single pipe splits into 2, I question the validity of any improvement in flow. Good muffler at a good price.
