Can you refuse a truck assignment?

I wouldn’t. I don’t and last week I cleared 3300 dispatched miles, all HAZMAT. You shouldn’t have to reject crap with 7/3 splits and good consistency. Mechanical failures should eat none of your time if you do your inspections properly.

They threw me in a 13 speed too to add to the BS. But I’m making off like a gangster. They always give the new guy the worst truck. Just be glad you aren’t a warehouse picker.

 

There is a major carrier in Calgary that bought International with Cummins.
They have between 10-20 of them parked along a fence waiting for the dealer to get them in for diagnostics and repairs.
I won't name them in an open forum.
But almost all Calgarians know their name already.
Stating that you drive a Prostar this days is close to telling people you just got cancer.

 

If you talk to any heavy truck technician about International Prostars you'll get an earful.
If you talk to any drive away driver they'll rate International at the bottom of all the other brands.
Maybe they don't know what they are talking about.
Maybe they are just blowing smoke.
Maybe?

 

I don't know about you, but I've got better things to do than sit in BFE collecting a low break down wage. I'm not living in a truck for that kind of pay for long before I hand in the keys.

Probably what they thought. I got thrown in it after starting in the worst truck and clearing $2400/week (W2 company). They were scrambling to find me something that wouldn’t need down time. I hate manuals… I like my coffee iced and in my hand on the on ramp

So yeah don’t reject trucks as a new driver. Just make it work and they’ll “reallocate”.

 

Depends on how bad the break down pay is. Where is retired from, the OTR drivers got a respectable hourly rate, motel, and food. Or just hourly if roadside or at a shop.

 

When you pick a company you are deciding many different things. Choose wisely.

 

I agree with you, but the companies I worked for it was a fraction of driving pay, and motel only if can't stay in the truck.

I do not recall specific Models Driven, Just MAKE. I've driven some wonderful and not so wonderful Models of Trucks. They were what was offered, so I was able to continue Driving Experiences.
I shed all my Routes/Trip Notes during Driving Years as well after totally done with Truck Driving.
Dropped A to C last year, when renewed Driver License.
In August, CDL-A acquisition permanent non viable.
