was it reported somehow? did you keep it between you and the other driver?
when i started 13 yrs ago, i was with cfi. i backed up toward the passenger side between 2 trucks and scratched the fairing around the fuel tanks on a truck on that was on that side. i didnt even know it. when i came back from a shower, the new mexico state police were running around investigating the big caper. they calmed down and acted like we were the ones in a tizzy and said "see. if we all just cooperate, things go alot smoother". youd think someone was killed. the driver was not upset really. when i realised what happened, i fessed up and apologized. i had to report it because the driver said he'd have to explain his damage.that was strike 1.
weeks later i was swapping out trailers that were parked inches away like sardines. they were massed together in an unorganised way. i snagged a bumper on a penske rental when i turned the trailer, and bent the bumper out. a week later they called me in for a review and showed me the door. stike 2, but it was really 3. what i wasnt aware of is, i was blamed for a previous accident that i dont think was my fault. i brought a trailer to a shipper which was loading heavy generators with a forklift, and the forklift broke through the floorboards. took em a while to get it unstuck and the foreman was #####ing how cfi was always sending ####ty vans. it wasnt the first time etc. so they counted that as an accident too.
i guess i should have sounded the floor but it looked normal.
in your case you can just replace a whole mirror and if all parties are happy, noone else need know.
