    Are you using Fuel Book?
My previous carrier discounts in the 11 Western states are .80-.85/gallon.
    Base rate+FSC are 2.20 CAD.
Net after expenses to the operator is 1.05 CAD/mile.
Running I15 from AB to CA and back weekly.
You can make good money if you don't break down and wait 4 weeks for parts.

6 dollars a gallon fuel and 6mpg truck. Adds up quick.

    A 2022 Pete 579 at 8+MPG helps a lot.
But I have 4 friends with major warranty issues.
The carrier asked the dealer to pay the downtime, though.
    Everybody is happy.
    Except the dealer.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

8mpg is impossible running open deck. Well maybe not impossible. I've done it a couple times. But had less than 10k on and it was aerodynamic load.. I am doing good at 6.5 mpg.. Average 6mpg last year running east Washington to West Montana. Flatbed. 80k every load... but fuel was also less than 3.50 a gallon

You are right. Flatbed is different. But it should pay better.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I haven't read any of the replies, but I wanted to share some info I was given when a Schneider recruiter came to my school this week. They are going straight hourly for all positions in the next 2 business quarters. Some divisions are already hourly. Something to factor in your decision.

I wouldn’t go to Schneider as a company driver. My plan was to drive for another company for 8 months then buy a truck and lease on with Schneider. There are better places to lease onto but I feel Schneider would be like having training wheels on. O/O under the wing of a carrier. Will I get rich? Absolutely not! The goal with Schneider is baby steps.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to heart. Bought a truck and going with my own authority. A0299477-9C9B-4B01-805F-B0BC9C88C976.jpeg
