They probably beat the hotel up on the price. Or the penniless Swift trainees stuff their pockets for the day due to no money for eats. -
I don't know Rug, They are getting 500 dollars from each student and there are 4 students to a room. You would think they could at least offer free coffee, LOL.
All in all, if you don't sweat the small stuff, the actual training was good. The instructors were professional, very nice, and made learning fun by sharing some of their humorous personal experiences. When you are sitting in a classroom 10-12 hours, a little humor goes a long ways. -
I am just going for 2-3 days of orientation. Then roll with a Mentor. I am going to call my recruiter with pen in hand. I am also going to call a local OTR company that might schedule me for orientation this week.

Good luck with whatever you decide, Rug. While it is good to ask lots of questions, take what he/she says with a grain of salt and try to verify everything. Some recruiters really do a good job of informing students with accurate information. Others do not.
Hopefully I will be rollin with a mentor by the end of next week. -
One thing I liked about the Swift training is that they do not program you to do something a particular way. At C1, we were told exactly how many feet to back up or pull forward, and how much to turn the steering wheel. Backing into a space was broken down into steps and we could not deviate. With each backing maneuver we were taught to jack it into the space.
At Swift it was entirely different. The instructors told us how to do a maneuver, demonstrated how it was done, then left us to practice it. They were available and always nearby if we had questions or needed them, but they would not tell us how we should do it. We would practice the same maneuver over and over until it finally clicked. Kinda like the way I remember learning how to ride a bicycle. It was frustrating at times, but their method worked. -

Gearrat, I would say social security card, birth certificate, and drivers license/cdl permit for sure. Best of luck! It will go by fast and you will be rollin before you know it.

Just got off the phone. Told me social security card, CDL, money for eating. Told me I would get a new DOT physical, didn't need my DOT card. I am bringing it anyways. I am going to bring my birth certificate too JIC.
