to you maybe
Yes, although the speed limit in parts of the Northern Territory is 130 kmh (81 mph), but has had no speed limit at different times in recent years, but NEVER for heavy vehicles
*If* speed limiters are required how will it affect you?

On our freeways (M class roads) the speed limit is 110, but HV's are limited to 100 kmh, overtaking is easy as they are multi laned roads
On A or B class roads the speed limit is 100 kmh for everyone, HV's and cars, although some A class roads do have a speed limit of 110 kmh for cars but 100 kmh for HV's. Northern Territory has 130 kmh for cars for one of their A Class Roads.
A & B Class roads in the smaller States will have regular overtaking lanes. In the bigger more wide open States overtaking lanes are less frequent, but traffic density is generally lower
In the alphanumeric systems, a letter denoting the route's construction standard and function is prefixed to the route number, creating an alphanumeric route designation. One of six letters may be used:
- "M" routes are primary traffic routes, called motorways in some states. These are typically dual carriageway, freeway-standard highways, but may also be used for rural roads that are nearly at freeway-standard, or at least are dual carriageways.
- "A" routes are other primary highways, including urban arterials and interstate or interregional single carriageways.
- "B" routes are less significant routes, either as an alternative to an "A" or "M" route, or linking smaller population centres to larger regional centres, but without being a major through-route in the region. These are the major road links in areas without "A" routes.
- "C" routes link smaller settlements and towns to the rest of the major road network. They are used for roads without the significance of an "M", "A", or "B" route, but where numbering would assist navigation.
- D" routes are detour routes. These are only used in New South Wales with only two routes
and
- "R" routes are ring routes only used in South Australia with only one route
- "ALT A" routes are alternative “A” routes only used in Queensland

around here if your in the left lane car or truck and doing 80 mph your holding up traffic….lol -
Look at our Nullabor Plains (Eyre Highway), it has the longest stretch of straight road in Australia, the road stretches for 146.6 kilometres (91.1 mi) without turning, and is signposted and commonly known as the "90 Mile Straight" - Eyre Highway - Wikipedia
The Stuart Highway that links South Australia to the Northern Territory is long with bugger all traffic, this is the road that has had no speed limits in the past but is now speed limited to 130 kmh for cars and 100 kmh for HV's - Stuart Highway - Wikipedia
On the Stuart Highway (when not speed limited) in an Aussie built Ford Falcon (a production car at 300 kmh or 186 mph)

Cat sdp Thanks this. -
Well you have nice spec’d tractors but they need more wheelbase lol and I don’t get not having a sliding 5th wheel…..
And we suck but that’s another matter…. And here it’s basically lack of enforcement the whole road is doing 90 mph -
Some do have sliding 5th wheels (turntables), particularly trucks hauling over dimensional loads

When you have to get that load of strawberries from Watsonville Ca to Hunts Point Thursday morning and they slammed those doors on that shiny hiney Monday afternoon, a speed limiter would really make a lot of people happy!
Nostalgic, Cat sdp and RockinChair Thank this. -
Just playing because you seemed to be getting hot.
