If all of the above somehow fails.....

you could still give my old alma mater a try (check it out):

Dedicated truck driver – ND Paper | Top drivers earn up to $95,000 | Up to $7,500 sign-on bonus | Schneider (schneiderjobs.com)

Take Chinatown's earlier suggestion--despite what the recruiters are currently telling you, if you see a position advertised on their website for your zip code/area (like that above--or similar), apply for it, anyway....and then follow-up on it later.

    Why?

    Well, several reasons, actually....but.....

Schneider has A LOOOOOT of freight up in the northeast.

Company training for you would very likely occur at their Carlisle, PA terminal--a VER-RY NICE facility (much nicer than the one I trained at--in Atlanta), and obviously much closer to home for you than anything out in the midwest.

They also have a good number of terminals/dropyards up in the northeast, for overnite parking (which, as you will learn later--would be super-duper handy).

The rationale for their recruiters giving you the cold shoulder I really don't understand--the jobs, the freight and the facilities are certainly there.

If I can do Schneider for 2 years, and live to tell about it....I would wager that you could, too. :D

Also--I simply cannot encourage marriage for you, as a beginning driver. o_O

Get at least 2 years experience under your belt, and then get a local, home-daily gig.

After all that....I will bless your union.

That’s the gig I wanted! ND Paper in Old Town, ME is less than 15 min away from home… they’ve had the listing up for weeks and refresh it every few days.

I wish I knew why they were telling me they’re not looking. I was pretty clear I had no issues running hard and have never been in an accident, I’m used to working 80+ a week - I don’t get it honestly.

As for marriage, she knows I want to wait until we’re actually settled and not constantly scrambling to make ends meet. It’s not in the foreseeable future, at least until a house is owned somewhere which currently is not anywhere in sight lol.

I've been seeing lots of ads lately for "Rent to Own" homes.
I know only one person that's done that and he has no regrets.
I'd probably go through a legitimate real estate agent for that, so you won't be scammed.
I saw one just outside Las Vegas; home with garage and plenty of space to park a truck.
The ad is no longer showing, so I guess someone moved in.

    Ok...then do this:

Finish getting your CDL (you can also do that thru Schneider, as well...if you so choose--then that would probably give you an automatic inside "ticket" to the above referenced job), then get ALL of the endorsements--tanker, hazmat, & also doubles/triples.

Get the TWIC card, too--especially the TWIC card.

Then go back--and reapply for the above job (it will probably still be available), if that's in fact what you really wanted.

When I first applied to Schneider--I already had the CDL, endorsements, & TWIC in hand (& also--a US passport).

Their response was....let's just say....quite favorable.

I would wager if you also already had all those "credentials".....they would respond much more favorably to you, too.

Given all the above.....you should also be aware of the info on the following page:

Prime drivers earn a healthy fuel mileage bonus so the drivers choose to drive slow. It could be something like 5 CPM bonus if they meet the MPG target.

No I don't know that. I've only ever dealt with them related to HazMat.

Isn't Western Express generally a second chance type of company?
Their SAFER score isn't very good

Their Out Of Service (OOS) rate is 5 points higher than national average. That suggests lots of problems with trucks & trailers. That's a recipe for screwing up your record and lots of free sitting around.
