I'm beginning to suspect 'Rumor'. If TMC IS shutting up shop, and wanting to do it the right way, I suspect that A) They would tell drivers to deliver the load the are under, THEN tell them to fill tanks and B) Take truck to nearest terminal. Why spend extra fuel money just to get them all to Des Moines?
Oh well, something to watch on a rainy day.
Another TMC rumor?

TMC Transportation flatly puts rumor of closing to bed
Rumors of TMC Transportation going under are untrue, according to a spokesman for the Des Moines, IA-based flatbedding operation.
Several rumors about the company either going under or partially closing have hit trucking message boards in recent days.
"Those rumors are completely false," said Erin Monahan, TMC spokeswoman.
TMC's CEO recently sent its drivers a message saying the rumor is false, Monahan said.
The rumor may have gained more life than others due to the December bankruptcy of another flatbedding business. Shortly before Christmas, Tulsa, OK-based Arrow Trucking went under, leaving 1,400 drivers and employees without jobs and stranding hundreds of drivers for the holiday.
"I think with what happened with Arrow, people are just preparing for the worst," Monahan said.
TMC recently received a $680,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Natural Resources to install APUs on 100 of the company's fleet trucks.
Such a grant wouldn't be awarded to a company going under, Monahan said.
"We hear those rumors often," Monahan said. "When you're the leader of the industry, people really like to hope that is going to happen. But it's false."

Same old BS that comes up every week, rather than start a new post with no validity or source - why not just read the numerous others that have already talked about this in every possible way it could be talked about. I suppose if someone posts this everyday and one day it actually happens, that person can then proclaim they "called it". I for one don't believe it will happen, there is a night and day difference in how TMC has run their company versus Arrow and even some of the others still going like Western. No one knows anything for sure except the bean counters at TMC and am going to make an assumption they aren't going to tell us anything if or when something were to happen. Until such time, keep on going and hope for the best.

ya I thought we cleared this up in post #2.

Nice. I wonder why rumors like this start.
This reminds me....Now this in itself might be a hoax, but i thought it was funny...recently I was at a TA restaurant and got talking to another driver....who claims to be the son of the owner of FAS. He really had his stories down good, so i think he was tellin the truth....or a total bs-ologist.
This guy says he was in a drivers lounge and overheard some of his drivers talking. "Oh, I heard they're switchin to paperless logs!"
he turned around and everyone in the room recognized him except the guy talking..
"Yeah I overheard X and X talking about it!"
and hes like..."Well im X and i never heard about this..."
hahahaha. -
I don't know or care who FAS is. I don't understand why drivers are so concerned with companies other than their own. I could not possibly care less about other flatbed companies, let alone van or reefer companies, or otherwise. I bet half this BS is being spread by van drivers. might have originated with competing flatbed drivers, but once it gets out, it's EVERYBODY'S business, right? nothing better than walking into the TA with a half dozen idiot truckers gathered around very seriously discussing how JB Hunt is going to buy Werner, but the whole thing is gonna be run by Schneider and it's going to force Swift out of business. who the hell cares, do your jobs. god I can't wait to never see another truckstop as long as I live. by even posting this here you are only contributing to the problem.

Guys, I am sorry I posted this topic. A couple of frustrating weeks of job hunting, boredom setting in and feeling a bit under the weather, I guess I wasn't thinking right. I actually was offering it as sarcasm, but in my Tylenol induced haze, I didn't carry that across too well.
My apologies.
I actually believe, even with some of the belt tightening change lately at TMC, they are probably currently one of the stronger flatbed outfits out there. -

But these boards are just like the truck stops you so despise. Anything and everything will get discussed. And posting replies to them only adds to it. Don't read them, if they bother you that much.
Again, sorry for ruffling your feathers.
