Heard the other day that they’re building a new barn in Findlay Ohio and 1/2 the city work out of Norwalk is being moved to new operation. Anybody else have more details about service area changes? I imagine Battlecreek Mi, Alexandria In, and Wilmington might be affected as well. Also heard change is afoot in Florida service centers like Ft Pierce and Miami. Can anyone shed any light on these changes. Is this a company wide thing?

I think it may be a good problem except for those that loose a position in the affected terminal. Norwalk was 250 doors when I left and it was a constant fight for trailers and doors. My suspicion is the volume of freight for the company overall is growing and is overwhelming some barns. So all in all a good problem if you’re going to have a problem but still taking that much territory is a big change. Going to be some unhappy city drivers I’d assume. I was told the gossip is the city operation will be impacted more so than the linehaul operations which given the way linehaul is setup would make sense to keep Norwalk given the meet and turns with the east coast guys and the NY Thruway long doubles operations

Must not be many R&L hands on here. Did find out the Florida issues were just cleaning house of some managers and not a change of operations

Quick google search shows this is correct. Planned to open march of 2023. Could definitely see how it would take relief off of Norwalk and even Wilmington. Never understood how they got anything done when they had to drive so far.

I run that far every day, so it’s definitely possible. You need drivers that aren’t afraid to work though.

Pickups got dicey when I was starting at 8:00 if I was too spread out, but most of the time my runs are tight and you can knock out 16-18 deliveries in 3-4 hours once you get where you’re going.

Now I start at 6:00 and they added a day of transit time to our more distant points, so no waiting in the morning. That made a huge difference, so now the only issues are the clock milkers.

    LTL Bull Thanks this.
