I’m having my 379 painted, including the fuel tanks and want to put the decals on the tanks. The law just says 2” high easily visible. I’m wondering if anyone did this and was there an issue from DOT?
DOT ever give you trouble for putting decals on fuel tanks?

No problem, some guys have em on a tool box.

I have had them slightly rear from the tanks for 7 years and not an issue. As long as they are clearly visible I don’t see you having an issue.

I’ve been through two inspections with mine on the tanks

“The law” doesn’t specify a size, at least on the federal level. Your home state may vary. Federally it’s visible from 50ft. Placement doesn’t matter. On my FLD I had it on the step, then I had it back on the frame after I repainted it. My KW was down on the step. My last 2 579’s have had it on the bottom corner of the bunk as part of my stripe.

Wasn’t the 2 inch a rule at some point ?

Cop: "Reg says two inches minimum height."
Trucker: "No sir. Here it is in the green book."
Cop: "Huh. Looks like you're right. But I'm having trouble reading them, so here's your ticket."Bean Jr., Nostalgic, Chieftains and 8 others Thank this. -

I misread and was thinking you were referring to your IFTA stickers. 2” minimum, color doesn’t blend in with rig and visible from 50’ is all the law requires for Company name and Dot numbers.
