My son is two and I have been local ever since he was born but all I think about is going back over the road… how hard is it? Do you make it work?

In all honesty probably depends on your wife/gf cause everything will fall upon her. Also how well you deal with being away from your kids. I miss the otr life someday but couldn't imagine being gone all the time again

It sucks depending on how much you like your kids lol. I thought I could do it after I had my son. Only made it 4 months and came back home. Was out 2-3 weeks at a time.

It’s such a difficult decision… I want to be in his life but I’m not happy at the moment.

I was same way. It’s a really hard decision. Happiness is hard to find.

Well then she’s not worth having. You want to be there for your child and she doesn’t want you there. That’s pretty crappy on her part.

Shelf your need for happiness. Whatever you chase in life, means that it’s running from you. Including happiness. If you want to be an involved dad, that otr isn’t even a question. Local work. Your boy will lose the home stability, and if you go otr he’ll lose your time. That’s the sacrifice you make when you have kids. I’m not saying your happiness is unimportant, it’s very important, but when you have children your needs outside of food/clothing/shelter become a juggle. Your choice ultimately though.

my dad gave me no time, and left my life when I was 16. I have nothing but, nothing for him.

btw, I have three daughters. I used to be an O/O doing regional, but my whole goal was to set myself up to trade stocks full time so I can be at home everyday with my kids. Achieved that goal, and will never look back.
