And not too many people know about that extra log book line if your in oilfield specific equipment. Soon as you hit the location your clock freezes. Hell you can even reset on location while working. Good old JD Rockefeller made them laws.

Where are they going to start you on the rig? Is it a kelly or top drive?

And you only need 24 hours to reset!

Floorhand. It’s a topdrive. Kelly rigs are nonexistent up here. Customers want the super spec rigs. I imagine the small operators may still use them down your way and some other states.

Ups seasonal driver, sounds way easier. Good luck on the rig. Be safe.

I was reading on this sometime ago, and supposedly it's only applicable to drivers of vehicles designed specifically for oilfield work. Is that correct?

Mostly all the big walking rigs up here. I've only ever been to a handful of Kelly rigs.

There doing super laterals up here in the Marcellus/Utica at almost 30k total feet with almost 20k of it going lateral. The one job I loaded broke the land based record at the time. 27,750 total length. Spud in to td in 12 or 14 days I forget. That was a big HP flex rig

Flex 4 rigs is what I roustabouted on. In wireline, I did 26k before. 20k lateral is a lot to push. 30k total is going to take a new drum to pump down, and after a few reheads, or one problem, you're looking at needing new wireline to keep going, lol. One thing I do miss about the oilfield is pushing the envelope.

Coil tubing had also had to be made bigger. Frac iron has been greatly reduced. Its all one big pipe to the well heads. They use big hoses too. Crazy stuff. Here’s the only pic I could find.
