They’re also allowed to strike when they meet the prerequisites given in the RLA. Which is exactly what has been done. They’ve been trying to negotiate for almost three years now with very little recourse on their end. And now that their recourse is finally coming around, folks like you are upset? Why weren’t you upset each time rail carriers failed to meet negotiable terms? Why weren’t you upset when #### like “hi-viz” became policy at BNSF? You’re upset at the workers but not the corporations?

You hope the Feds come cracking down on them for being lawfully organized. Wow. You should never again question why our industry has the problems it does, if that is your line of thought.

You seem overly concerned with my opinion on the matter and you're proving my point even further. They've been working under such "horrible" conditions for years so they could wait longer until their fellow citizens aren't getting absolutely hammered with inflated living expenses and sky high basic essentials like gasoline, heat and food. We don't agree. Move on with your life instead of turning this thread into your soap box argument arena.

Spot on. The timing is straight up extortion. Par for the course in the worker's union's toolbox.

Yeah everyone is the bad guy (brokers, carriers, striking rail workers, other drivers) and you’re the victim. You and only you are facing the problems of rising costs, not everyone else. Get real bub. Even the rail workers are feeling everything everyone else is. They’re not immune.

You’re right we don’t agree. You want to blame workers, and not the corporations bleeding everyone dry. Record profits out of every class 1 rail carrier and you want to not only defend them, but attack workers who are organized and willing to negotiate. Again, an absolute WOW.

If these railroad jobs are so cushy, pay so well and have excellent benefits, why are none of us in them?

To answer your last question: early 2000’s Montana Rail Link was hiring. You could go to the Modoc Rail Academy in CA and get hired when you graduated. I got all the info and was all in ready to make the jump, right up until I found out I had to be able to make it to the Missoula yard in 2 hours no matter when or what time they called.

I never understood a strike. If you don’t like your place of work, just leave. Simple with no drama. I never understood when people thought an employer owed them a life of employment and cuddling. When I see a worker on a strike I see a weak person. I strong one would make their own path in history and not cry about conditions.

When you are 55 years old and the last 30 years you worked at the same factory living at the same house, it's not easy just to get up and leave.

Striking workers are trying to make their own path. Just because you don't like the path they chose, doesn't make them weak.
