It’s pretty hard to avoid bio anymore, especially with the subsidies truck stops get for selling it.

I don't know if the state requires it, but I went through Tennessee from Arkansas to Knoxville and back. Every place I stopped only had that B20 diesel.

so, a question from a n00b out of genuine curiosity: what's wrong with biodiesel?

Biodiesel is made from cooking oils, vegetable oil. And other types of renewable oils... I am not a scientist or engineer so bear with me if im not completely correct on that.... But in my experience it freezes faster than regular diesel and tends to clog up fuel lines and filters much faster

Most issues result in the lack of lubricity in the fuel. It’s more abrasive than 100% petroleum, so it’s hard on components like injectors, filters, and fuel pumps.

Could you add something to it?

I’ll typically put a bottle of Motorkote Low Sulfur in my tanks when I fuel up. I started using it after I replaced my fuel pump a few years ago. I haven’t had any problems or any metal in the oil/fuel filter since.

They haven't heard of Biodiesel in Louisiana along i10.
I've noticed Valero will have better diesel. Have seen 5% max stickers on pumps. Higher too. But usually better than others in area.
Some places that say is no biodiesel. From experience. I have my doubts.
Newer trucks will run on it. But gets hotter more quickly. Not as much power. Not good.
Older engines. Not good at all.
