Just so you know I don’t BS….. I took 43% off this one but $7300 was still a SMOKING rate for a Canadian only carrier wanting to go home. 1400 miles

There are really good ones out there that are truly an asset and an ally to me. Too bad the majority of them ruin it for the good ones. I wasn't insinuating you were BSing or doing anything cruddy. That's why I didn't ask for details and only said the basics.Vampire, Another Canadian driver, RedForeman and 5 others Thank this. -
It may be time to sell the truck and become a broker.
Why keep fighting against countless other trucks willing to haul cheap freight.

Because I don't mind the break, I have some work to pay the bills from great brokers and the slow periods are when I get to catch up on truck/trailer repairs, handle house upkeep and actually do some things that make me happy in life instead of running myself ragged when the market is hot.

If there are five loads that are $2,000 each then that means $200 is made on each one. So five of them during the week is $1,000.
If they can move it at that posted rate on that one load they made $850. And if they can move other loads and find other suckers instead of making $1,000 a week they're going to make 4 or $5,000 +.
Then when you multiply that over all of the other brokers and all of the other loads you can understand why big brokerages are in giant colossal buildings with hundreds of people working for them just making them money making them money making them money. It's a friggin money mill.
Sadly, it's built on the backs of guys working really hard with thin profit margins with regulations out the Wazoo and hands out taking your money at every turn of the bend...RubyEagle, Siinman, Another Canadian driver and 1 other person Thank this. -
Let me post my truck with comments saying "will only go to the Northeast for $9+ a mile and $5000+ minimum revenue" and see how calls I get. I can dream too right lolAnother Canadian driver and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Regulations out the wazoo…..Lol….It’s far too easy to jump into this industry. If the barrier to entry were a little higher we wouldn’t be seeing MC numbers nearing 2xxxxxx or DOT numbers nearing 4xxxxxx and we’d probably all be a little better off.

I just want to clarify, I’ve ONLY brokered loads I’ve personally hauled with my own trucks.
Once they know I can put my trucks on the load, they trust me to pick trusted carriers to haul it on my behalf.
Out of 80% of the carriers I’ve used to haul my brokered freight at least 60% of them have helped me with local work in North Dakota. It’s nice they can call me in town and I can use them on some local flatbed work that I have.Siinman, D.Tibbitt, Another Canadian driver and 3 others Thank this. -
