Didn't have the wear issues you describe.

Only had 1 fail. And that was a chunk of metal in the shoulder. Replaced as pair and took the serviceable one home. Eventually put it on the trailer when I found a good used one to pair it with. Trailer got the hand me downs from the tractor or new.

I’d never run anything but Michelin on icy roads.

Yeah that's a good way to do it.

I haul company trailers, so at least I don't have to worry about another set of tires. On the other hand... here I am stressing over getting the most fuel efficient drives, and will still lose 40% of potential efficiency to whatever piece of crap tires Landstar has on their trailers.

Michelin steers are phenomenal in the rain. They also ride pretty good but I think the tires must be softer than most others cause the steers don’t seem to last long for me as the Bridgestones or Goodyears. Can’t tell you about the drives or trailers cause all I ever had were Bridgestones there.

Michelins are good but get a full alignment done plus replace all shocks as well.

I've experimented around a bit and have settled michelins on the steer for the best wear and ride , hankooks on the drives and all 8 go away before 10/32s

If you run fast Michelins seem to wear quicker but at 65 mph they last awhile .we were getting 350,000 to 400,000 miles out of xdn2 pulling Canadian tri axle weights but if you ran one low it started wearing bad quickly and rarely recovered ..

I run x line energy D Michelins. I love them, but not the price. If it wasn’t for my tire guy getting them for half retail I would run whatever I could I guess. I personally like the closed shoulder drives.
