Thanks Guys.. back from being out 2 weeks and finally got my laptop up and running so should be able to keep up on here more often..

Worldpax, thanks for the offer, i don't think i can send a pm til i have 50 posts?

I did get a chance to chat with several drivers recently while loading/unloading.. learned a good bit but still have questions..

My FM stresses getting to consignee by 10pm Sunday nights so hours are reset for and ready to roll.. does everyone follow this strictly? I am 4 hours away to deliver for Monday am and sure would be nice to watch the Superbowl with my wife.. sort of a 'what would you do question'. especially with only having one day off in the past 3 weeks.

I was told quite a few times.. DO NOT go over your hours and they will be watching us more now then ever.. However, several drivers had told me if they are within a couple hours of destination, they "make it work".. any comments about this?

phone # from drivers is the best thing to have, most of the time a fm has never driven a truck and would just give you an answer out of a book (and thats not ALWAYS the way to do it) im glad you are getting hooked up with someone from the same company as you.
i dont claim to know everything but i can help send you in the right direction
if you or anyone reading this needs to ask a question you can call me at and i will try and help the best i can

Yeah, watching the Super Bowl might be nice, but if you have to do something to "make it work' that might come back to bite you in the butt, is it going to be worth it? Me, if I were a newbie, I'd forgo the game, or at least part of it, and get to the con. Working it the right now, while you are starting out, could make the possibility of being home for future Bowl games much more likely.

    Just my thoughts.

usually... if I'm delivering within 100 miles of home I usually leave Monday morning, if not I try to make it as close to the consignee as possible and still be able to take a shower in the morning and/or avoid getting woken up by someone pounding on the side of my cab at 4:30 in the morning. I absolutely despise parking at consignees the night before because I do not react very well when that happens, and it's not safe for me to move my truck when I just woke up 30 seconds ago. just keep in mind whenever you leave on Sunday usually determines what time you get home Friday. if I know I'm staying out for a couple weeks, I usually take a little more laid back approach, no hurry.

keep in mind your FM is reading from a script and is merely a mouthpiece for management, they only tell you what they are told to tell you. for example, it gets a little old hearing "do a good trip plan" when OOR gets high, when in reality OOR is caused by driving all over Indianapolis, doing swaps in different locations than on the load screen, and following fuel stops. I hadn't complied with a fuel stop in months so I figured I'd follow one, ended up 20mi OOR on a 180mi load just to fuel, surprise, 20% OOR, asked for an adjustment, we'll see if they I it, but at snapshot time when they're looking at 20% OOR, FM will be saying "make sure you do a good trip plan!"

Why does everyone think that they need a restart??I mean that wasn't there until they changed the HOS. We always used to work off the recap and thats the way it was. You went home 2 days well then you had hrs but not a full 70. Just funny how things change

Here is an example I had.. at the end of 7 days, i had 64 hours.. so for the 8th day had i not had a reset, I would only have 6 hours for the day.. the next day would have picked up 9, 8.25 the next.. gonna make the week really tough had i not reset based on how they run us...

and i am still very new so if I am not understanding this right, please let me know.. Thanks
