Depending on what truck parameters you have entered in Truck tools, it will look at those settings and keep you on truck legal routes to include looking at height restrictions.

Due to some database mappings errors, if you feel you are being routed wrong or in error, please let RM know so that they may verify in the mapping database.

    Thanks,
    Mark

ya i have been using it now and man am i glad I got it...it does help considerable tho i do constantly check it to my qualcomm and it does show different routes sometimes than what my qualcomm says...
I do knwo that Don yer dad said he was going to update it that day and I had him ship it to me next day and when I plugged it in,,,,,, it already had a new update.

ONE THING is dont understand is the "set origin" button?? the manual on line says nothing about it and the pics of the routing screen do not show the button???

ALSO what are the pros and cons of running == shortest vs. fastest routing, the manual doesnt really say anything about it - I am sure it still stays on truck routes?? but will it route me down dirt roads or tiny residential streets to do the shortest route??
I was in Birmingham last week and it ran me down these tiny streets (but still truck routes) and then BAM i was going into a bridge that showed 13'0" clearance??? I figured well it cant be wrong... can it??? as I sloooowly proceeded under the bridge I found i had the clearance and was told by a guy at my drop that the bridge is actually 13'7" ---guess the RM knew that but the pucker went up due to a tiny street at 5 am and no way out except to back up over 3 blocks -- anyway it worked out.

    Shortest versus Fastest.

Shortest - less miles, but longer run time (due to slower speeds), mainly US routes, but, truck legal.

Fastest - more miles, but less run time (due to higher speeds), usually freeways or interstate roads.

    Thanks,
    Mark

A little class - this is a feature asked for and it works well. If you are at point A and have a run from Point B to C. You want to see the Route from Point B to C only, this is how you will do that.

I am going to use general locations for this, so follow along with your TND.

main menu\POI's\city\Mocksville, NC\travel center\Horn's AMBest Travel Center - select this

    next screen -

go to the bottom and tap on "Set Origin"

You will now be back on the main map page.

    bottom right\main menu\choose destination\POI\city\Wytheville, VA\travel center\TA -Wytheville, VA - select this.

    Next Screen -

    Tap on "Begin Route"

    -------------------------------

you are now routed from these two locations, it does not matter where your physical location is right now. You can see the route in the Turn-by-Turn list, you can do searches around you, as the TND "Thinks" it is in Mocksville, NC.

You will stay in this mode till you either:

    1. Turn your TND off\on
    2. Click on the "return to GPS location" on the bottom right of the map screen next to the "-" button.

    ----------------------------------------

So, in short this will let you see from Point B to C no matter where your physical location is.

    Thanks,

so then I would assume than that running the "fastest"-mode is the most common setting to use?

So you know if the Quacomm's are calculated to shortest or fastest?

and BTW thanks fer the "info" last week on getting my RM

Fastest is the norm for most.... just be aware in version 1472 do not set the U-turns, Ferries, or tollways to "avoid".. issue with the settings,,, this has been fixed already in the Beta Version.

New version should be ready in about 2 weeks hopefully.

    Thanks,
    Mark
