Get your own insurance and then "lease on"? That's being a contractor for them, not leasing on. What on earth would you be "leasing on to"? Not a carrier, if you bring authority. And 30% of what? Hauling gold bullion out of Ft Knox at $3/mile? You were right to be skeptical, something out of the norm like that takes too much work to verify.

Are you still bringing a trailer to the table? 30% is too much unless they're doing a WHOLE LOT for you - and it doesn't sound like it. I'm sure they'll find a sucker somewhere, and be #### happy they did.

Good luck friend, and keep your chin up!

Trailer was the only thing they were going to Provide. The name of the guy called sound familiar, kinda want to say JB Hint Recruiter. I did tell him if I had my own Authority why would I need to lease on to a company, I could get my own loads...

Had a friend tell me of a Company out of Alabama. I printed out an Application and faxed it in. Not really expecting to hear much, I got a call 2 hours later.

Oh I got an Interesting phone call from GreatWide the other day. I left them 2.5 weeks ago. And I got a call ssying they are locking me out cause my logs not up to date. I told her I no longer with Great Wide. Since they did not want to run me in the first place, I deadheaded home and turned in the trailer 2 weeks ago.. She said "OH? Somebody dropped the bubble.." I said yes, by having me sitting 10 days with no load....

I probably should have read the entire thread...but it is pretty depressing trying to understand it all.

Exactly how long have you owned your truck...and how many companies have you been with??

I got my first truck end of Jan 2009 an stayed with USA truck till Oct 2009. And I started with Great Wide in Dec and left mid Jan due to they had me sitting not running. Now looking still for a company to lease on with.

Times it is depressing but over all I still have a good outlook. I'm not giving up.

Hey Coastie, I have an OS2 whose dad has a Fed Ex fleet and she has told me many times her dad would hire me when I retire. I can ask if he's looking for an O/O if you like not sure where he is out of though.

That is an Idea, but I believe they would require a newer truck than my Pete.
But in my plans I was wanting to put some trucks on with Fedex, but they would need to be Team ready type trucks. But that is in the plans on down the road..
