What are the names of these new good brokers you speak of? I would like to do business with them, please let me know. Thanks,
In March of 2020 we ran a load for a ??? logistics out of Royal Oak, MI. They requested that we layover which we reluctantly did and they agreed to a $200 layover fee. They short paid us 308.00 claiming that their customer had short paid them. I repeatedly asked them to show me their payment and proof that it was short paid to them. They would not. I drove to their office and the broker was more interested in that I came to his office to collect than he was discussing the $308 that they owed our company. In the end, I filed a small claims where the owners appeared via zoom. The owners wanted to chastise me for coming to their office and not "escalating" my short payment. I stopped them short and told the two of them to look to their own employees for failing to bring this to their attention. In the end, we were paid. What I saw in the logistics office still kind of shocks me. There was NOTHING in that office that resembled anything to do with transportation or trucking. This is probably true of most logistics based companies but .....
Generally speaking, the loads you get from another large broker that are Landstar loads, they are being co-brokered. Meaning their in an agreement in place and Landstar or the broker that gave it to Landstar if you are taking it from them, can verify who has the freight in their possession. The transportation lobby is all large broker money, so this is their loophole.
That is funny. Share it if they give it to you. I like the "pay in 24 hours, sometimes for free part" I will get 15 calls this week on brokers that werent approved by a factor, so the carrier believed that they were going to get quickpay. Then they invoice for the quickpay amount, and dont get paid til 35-40 days...for the quickpay amount... "Its ok, they are paying with Rigz!"
IMHO, Co-brokering agreements are a nightmare and only a lazy broker who cant find his own trucks do this. I would never willing give my competition any info on my customers, just so they can try to backdoor me. Landstar will sign our contract that prohibits any re-brokering, co-brokering, double-brokering. Call me to book a load and swear on God and their mothers that its a landstar truck, then post it right on DAT. Complete trash bags and i love telling them to fly a kite when they call.
