How Do You handle truck idling regulations?

2007 engines have the DPF's on them......

As far as I'm concerned...if you maintain a rig..it will last forever.... However...Cali or CARB states that the "Useful Life" of a rig is 10 years......No matter how well maintained.....So if you bought a 2010 today...you would have to replace it in '21.....

 

What would they know? I see a lot of older rigs on the road that are well maintained and run better than new trucks. There is a 87 Freightliner FLC where I use to work at. Has a 444 Cummins in it, had a fresh overhaul with no miles on it but it hasn't been ran since then. It's been sitting there doing nothing. It has a lot of life left in it and that thing is clean on the inside. Not a spec of dirt.

 

What are the idle laws in NY?

 

If im idleing to stay alive(or healthy), I'll show them where they stick their ticket. They cannot enforce a law that is likely to cause harm to you or your equipment. Thats dead wrong and I dont see such a thing holding up in court. May behoove you to carry some sort of thermometer to take a pic with your outrageous ticket. That way you had proof they were sayin you couldnt idle your truck in 10* weather. Were tryin to make a livin out here and these jerkoffs are making it hard so their consciences can feel warm and fzzy. Wtf kinda country is this anymore???

 

There has got to be some federal regulations that protects us from this law in some instances

 

You mean the EPA?They are one of the most powerful agencies in the government.They can even tell the military what they can and can't do.We have to follow EPA guidelines here in Iraq.

but when it comes to driver safety, that is the DOT's responsibility........the EPA has no ground to pass a law that puts any living being in danger
