Thanks for the info. If you do not take home time between orientation 1, then out with the trainer, then go directly to orientation 2 then on with a finishing trainer is it fair to say you will be away from home about 10 to 12 weeks?

We always reroute either via I40, or up to I80 across Wyoming. Your trainer was just making sure that he gets paid for the additional miles the reroute requires. This is also in you employee hand book.KCJ Thanks this. -
My mistake. I typed a "7" instead of an "8". I was tired. I guess a small typo can sometimes make a big difference. My trainer made sure he was paid for the extra miles. He did not want to run I80.

Hopefully someone in here could offer a suggestion.
My trainer has an 06 freightliner century. It has a 3000 watt power inverter wired directly to the battery. The batteries are a few months old. Lately when the truck is running the low battery warning starts beeping and the 12v acessory system and interior lights shut down. The volt meter is reading 14 volts and there appears to be no problem with the alternator. Eventually the power comes back to the 12v acessories, however, it is taking longer and longer for power to return. I have turned the inverter off and the problem still persists. Does anyone have any idea of what may be causing this? -
I just had that same problem and it turned out ONE of the batteries was shot. What will eventually happen is you won't be able to start your truck. This is not the time of year to have that problem. We started using the APU to charge the batteries long enough to start up the engine, but eventually the batteries were so bad they wouldn't even start the APU. They changed out the batteries and the problem was gone.
That was OUR problem, it might not be yours, but it won't hurt to pull into the service bay and have the batteries load tested and fully checked. Keep in mind that batteries can go bad at any time they don't have to be old. -
I live in Wyoming, and will run the I40 to I25 route over I80 during the winter months. It is about 30 miles farther, and sometimes dispatch just does not want to pay the extra mileage, but I will run it anyway, as I stay moving, and I get the load delivered on time legally. -
We dropped in Laredo and have a load taking us back to Dallas. The truck will be serviced there. I am very happy about that because it is becoming noticably more difficult for the batteries to start the truck. The speedo is also functioning improperly. It will show you are doing 90mph when only travelling 60 if it gives a reading at all. The tach sometimes acts up too. In a nutshell this truck has some electrical problems that need to be addressed.

Smokr, good to see you doing well in training. Believe me there are not enough hours in the day to get proficient in backing while still learning the other things you need. But you will get it with practice. Tell Bill Cheney that he is still my hero...he will understand. good luck with your new career
