That's how it used to be . You find a customer. You buy trucks to service them and no need of a broker . But since broker came into the scene everyone think they can be a big shot owner operator . I bet you if it goes back to how it used to be . Half of these o/o won't survive

It was almost like that for a while...
    Ask around.
Of course, I need brokers. I wouldn't be able to function without them.

    Opus Thanks this.

    Sure. It's called business.
I mean, my goodness. If the hardware store down the street screwed me every time I went in there, but the hardware store on the opposite side always gave me a good deal, where would I go??

This always seems to be a silly argument.

Go where the money is and you don't get screwed.

@Midwest Trucker you guys never lose money moving loads? Brokerages are like a win-win-win situation.

Let me rephrase it " Will not pay 20 mil out of pocket on an account to move freight "

Basically, that's how it works with transparency or not. But what's wrong with using reading glasses as I type this...?
Transparency adds reading glasses on an owner operator eyes.
I am perplexed. So many threads of bitching and moaning about cheap owner operators f...ing it up for them - like they don't know know what they're doing - yet this innocent concept of transparency that can bring about better understanding of what the market potential is triggers all that controversy.

Other than you feeling entitled to that information because you feel it will help your footing in the negotiation, how is it different when he chooses to not share business income information with his employees than it is when a broker doesn’t have to share what a load pays? It’s the exact same information. What if his employees could use that information to negotiate for better pay? Shouldn’t they be entitled to it also?
