On my old truck I replaced the radio with a Pioneer from Walmart. After recently getting a new truck and realizing how much of a pain it is to switch out, I bought a separate Bluetooth speaker and connect my phone to that. I only use the truck radio for local stations now.
It wasn't the reverse mute that was most bothersome. It was that the truck radio would switch to weather whenever it lost Bluetooth connection with the phone so every time I would have to scroll through all the inputs to get back to Bluetooth audio. -

A lot of them sound better than the factory radio and speakers in the truck .
of just use the apple AirPods and keep the factory radio turned off . -
It is a much better sound quality though obviously won't have the stereo separation of the factory audio. The added bass when listening to music and vocal clarity when listening to podcasts more than makes up for it though.
I tried earpods once and didn't like that I couldn't hear outside sound. Felt disconnected and not very safe.gentleroger and tscottme Thank this. -

Yet another issue of designers never using the things they design

Mine does this too, but that isn’t the worst of what makes this annoying. It’s the fact that it mutes all Bluetooth phone calls while you’re moving, and I’m tempted to swap it out just because of that.
tscottme Thanks this. -
It’s through the Dealer software. I had Volvo turn it off on several trucks.
tscottme Thanks this.
