If it has a gold star it is. I had one but let it lapse a few years ago can't recall if it did or not. I think in the few years I had it was asked to show it one time at a port. Just another complete waste of nonsense that came from 9-11 along with TSA and bunch of other bureaucratic bs. Renewal is every 5 years and you have to get fingerprinted at a cost of almost $100 because fingerprints change every 5 years as we all know.

I was thinking that star on my new license meant something,I thought you could use that as a passport or something but idk I haven’t seen the advantages of having the star yet.

I did delivery to many military bases and other weird places. Before load assignment shipper/receiver will ask your ID information and run their own check.

If it has the gold star it's a legit federal "real id". It doesn't get you through airport security faster but you are required to have it to actually get through that security. If you don't have a "real id" you can't board a plane.
